Last week we attended two conferences in one week and here’s our report on the\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://aesshow.com/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eAES (Audio Engineering Society)\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;in New York, held at the Javits Convention Center, located on Manhattan’s 11th Avenue. The show began early for us in a coffee shop on the way to the Javits Centre — meeting up with Joackeem from iZotope, having been recognised by him from our meeting at NAMM earlier this year. It felt like we already had friends in the city and at the show!\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eArrival at the show was punctuated by the eye-wateringly long queue for show badges — spiralling around the entire convention centre. This extended wait was a great opportunity to meet some new friends, get accustomed to the space, and start building anticipation for the days ahead.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOur team is made up of Andres Viso (Product Development Manager) and Chris D (Partnerships Manager); both first time attendees of the show; eager to share news of our tech, explore\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://aesshow.com/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eAES\u003c/a\u003e, and make some new friends in the industry. Having collected our passes, we made our first exploration of the floor — the show is divided into the main area, with 50–60 booths from companies like\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.linkedin.com/company/focusrite/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eFocusrite\u003c/a\u003e,\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.linkedin.com/company/soundtoys/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eSoundToys\u003c/a\u003e,\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.linkedin.com/company/solid-state-logic/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eSSL\u003c/a\u003e, and many more.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eDotted around the edge of the main floor are a series of conference rooms which hosted numerous talks and panels scheduled over the two days, with a series of stages at the top end of the main space which hosted larger scale events — in some cases with headphones for each audience member!\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: var(--color-text);\"\u003e\u003cimg src=\"https://media.licdn.com/dms/image/D5612AQFoFtF7tl1S-g/article-inline_image-shrink_1000_1488/0/1667268226039?e=1677110400\u0026amp;v=beta\u0026amp;t=a-VVCPWoPk3PKnIXJiQLPAPx0G3y_sBgJuAlI_GBo1Q\" alt=\"No alt text provided for this image\"\u003e\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFirst up on our agenda was a meeting with Simon, the CTO for Focusrite, who showed great interest in our tech and a desire to keep future discussions open. We later headed over to the\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6i-S-a19as\u0026amp;t=15s\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eFocusrite booth to shoot a video\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;on what they’re offering at AES.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe then happened to run into some old friends — firstly,\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCgztyxbJak\u0026amp;t=43s\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eAlexander Wankhammer of Sonible\u003c/a\u003e, a forward-thinking software company based in Graz, Austria who make adaptive audio plugins. We took the opportunity to speak to Alex for our interview series from the event. Minutes later, we spotted\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_nv9xXMsHY\u0026amp;t=89s\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eJustin Colletti, the main man at Sonicscoop\u003c/a\u003e, a popular Youtube channel we have been working with and we persuaded him to have a similar interview with us. It’s so nice to meet these people in person and make a real world connection.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: var(--color-text);\"\u003e\u003cimg src=\"https://media.licdn.com/dms/image/D5612AQHhqQlGSm3a9w/article-inline_image-shrink_1000_1488/0/1667268246626?e=1677110400\u0026amp;v=beta\u0026amp;t=i5dHVXgVHoOBOR5ZjCUnpEM0wjeEwu9QhcRLRRswu4o\" alt=\"No alt text provided for this image\"\u003e\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eExploring the floor, we took a trip over to\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNRvkQW_oiU\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003espeak to Waves\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;for their new hardware controller, as well as speaking to\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANOo5B14Vc4\u0026amp;t=8s\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eGreg Chin from AVID\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;— who we’ll be working with for Protools \u0026amp; AAX support soon. In between eating, charging our devices and preparing for our talk the following day, we had completed our first day at AES. We walked home via Times Square and enjoyed the dazzling light show and live performances.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe started the second day with the main focus of our visit, a presentation entitled: ‘Real-Time Parallel DSP Processing on GPUs’. The talk was very well attended and the Q\u0026amp;A session proved to be extremely popular, with over 15 minutes of questions and follow ups from the packed audience. After exploring the NAB show, we headed over to\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT822sYeRps\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eSoundly, where we got a quick demo and explanation\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;of their incredible sound effect library from Erling Hoff. Not far away was another\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMbYOLPhnq0\u0026amp;t=32s\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eScandinavian tech company, Nomono\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;— who make a bespoke podcasting device, combining microphones, cloud recording and a wealth of other features in one portable box.\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3EVop_XdTE\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eDell\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;was generous enough to offer us some high end laptops for the show, so we dutifully spoke to them about what they were offering too.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: var(--color-text);\"\u003e\u003cimg src=\"https://media.licdn.com/dms/image/D5612AQFLL-GDQ-oZAA/article-inline_image-shrink_1500_2232/0/1667268296856?e=1677110400\u0026amp;v=beta\u0026amp;t=-kg6d0gS1bJe45KA-8yTRyjvlSxcMbl1LSIVWCBffnY\" alt=\"No alt text provided for this image\"\u003e\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe final afternoon at the show had come and we caught up with some admirable software interviews at the\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF_Jxj2hM_s\u0026amp;t=23s\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eMelodyne\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEErqXJXFIc\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eSoundToys\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;booths. We had the pleasure of running indot industry legend Dave Pensado who entertained us with his jovial conversation mixed with vivid descriptions of his mother and the huge musical and emotional influence she had on his life. As the show was winding down, we handed out the final selection of pin badges and started preparing for the\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.mach1.tech/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eMach1\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;afterparty which was taking place at their studio.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGoing via the vibrant Washington park we made our way to\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.mach1.tech/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eMach1 Studios\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;to be greeted by their friendly staff and ‘Orbital — The Box’ playing in the reception area. After making some new acquaintances, we headed downstairs to the phenomenal studios where they make their Spatial Audio happen. The studio was jaw-dropping, with an incredible collection of vintage analogue synths — Roland Jupiter 6, Jupiter 8, Juno 106, original Red Roland SH101, TR-808, TR-909 and plenty more. Through the studio is the recording room, with a grand piano, drum kit, and binaural microphones amongst the gear.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt’s a truly phenomenal space which slowly got full of incredibly talented people, milling around and chatting technology. After eating a substantial amount of Sushi with the\u0026nbsp;\u003ca href=\"https://www.mach1.tech/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: var(--color-action);\"\u003eMach1\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;team upstairs, we said our goodbyes — and headed to the Metro station for the journey home.
